Private lessons

Private lessons (by appointment only) – REGISTER
$100 per 2 hour session
In the location of your choosing (cost includes travel within area of Goderich, Exeter, Sarnia, London).
You are welcome to invite others to join at a cost of $50 per person per 2-hour session.

Portfolio review (by appointment only) – REGISTER
$100 per 2 hour session
In the location of your choosing (cost includes travel within area of Goderich, Exeter, Sarnia, London).
This is solely for you, and we will discuss how your portfolio does, could, and should look. As it is essentially a private lesson, if you do not have a portfolio per se, please set aside 50-100 of your best photos in a folder on your computer and we can discuss which are your strongest, what you need to work on, and a potential niche you could pursue for business, publication, or contests.

Group lessons

Beginner 1 (limited to 12 people) – ALREADY RUNNING
$70 for seven weeks (Friday nights): July 9, 16, 23 (no class July 30), then August 6, 13, 20, 27
6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Larry Whiting’s house in Grand Bend
Beginner I covers the pure basics of your camera, and also covers composition techniques, portraits, self-portraits, shooting at night, and using existing light to make better photos.
Either a point-and-shoot or SLR camera is needed for these classes. Digital and film are accepted, as long as you are able to present your work either way.
Discounts are available only for those who alert Casey of planned missed classes before start of session.

Beginner 2 (limited to 12 people) – ALREADY RUNNING

7:45 to 9:15 p.m. at Larry Whiting’s house in Grand Bend
Beginner II goes the next step, and you should know how to control focus, aperture, shutter speed and ISO. Beyond that, we create a personal project and explore it using macro, action, colour, texture, and artificial lighting. Most people who take this class have an SLR, but it is not mandatory.
Either a point-and-shoot or SLR camera is needed for these classes. Digital and film are accepted, as long as you are able to present your work either way.
Discounts are available only for those who alert Casey of planned missed classes before start of session.

Beginner’s Crash Course (limited to 12 people)
$50 for two Saturday morning sessions: August 7 and 21 – REGISTER
9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Larry Whiting’s house in Grand Bend
This beginner’s crash course will combine technical work with a fair bit of hands-on exploration of your camera. We can’t cover as much as Beginner I, but most of the material will be covered. The only difference is the limitations of photo critique that can’t be provided by missing the long-term work of the seven-week program. We will take photos and look at them in class, and there will be some assignments to bring the second week. You have two weeks between classes to work on your assignments. We cover the pure basics of your camera, and also covers composition techniques, portraits, self-portraits, shooting at night, and using existing light to make better photos.
Either a point-and-shoot or SLR camera is needed for these classes. This class requires a digital camera, and you must have fresh batteries and a clean memory card for each class. Bring your photos on a memory card, CD or USB key.
Discounts are not available for this class other than for those who fill in the web survey (http://caseylessard.me/classes/).

Lighting 1.2.3 (limited to four people)
$50 – Saturday, August 14 – REGISTER
9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Larry Whiting’s house in Grand Bend
We’ll introduce hot lights and strobes using lighting setups of one, two and three lights. Because of the limited number of modifiers and lights in my arsenal, this class is limited to four people per session. A digital SLR is needed for this class.

Shop talk (TBD)
Geared toward photographers interested in earning money from their photos. You bring your questions and each person (limited to four people) will get half an hour worth of answers to their own questions. Most people will have the same questions as others, so you should be able to get your money’s worth.
$50 for two hours, $30 for anyone who has taken another course from Casey. Limited to four people.

Photoshop group lessons

Photoshop: Colour correction 1 – bring your own laptop
Tuesday, August 17 – 7 to 9 p.m. at Larry Whiting’s house in Grand Bend – REGISTER
Colour correction 1 focuses on the slider method used in Adobe Camera Raw, Lightroom, Aperture, and Photoshop Elements. We start in camera and colour correct your photos using sliders only. Please bring five of your own original, unretouched images that have caused you correction problems.
$30 each person for two hours of instruction. Limited to four people.

Photoshop: Colour correction 2 – bring your own laptop (must have Photoshop or GIMP or equivalent)
Tuesday, August 24 – 7 to 9 p.m. at Larry Whiting’s house in Grand Bend – REGISTER
Colour correction 2 focuses on the in-depth features of Photoshop, and we will cover: Adjustment Layers, Levels, Curves, Color Balance, Brightness/Contrast, Shadows/Highlights, Hue/Saturation, etc.. Please bring five of your own original, unretouched images that have caused you correction problems.
$30 each person for two hours of instruction. Limited to four people.

Photoshop: Image retouching 1 – bring your own laptop (must have Photoshop or GIMP or equivalent)
We start with blemishes and scars, and explore the image modifications you may need to do on an average day with your photos. These tools are covered: Healing Brushes, Clone Stamp, Patch Tool, Red Eye, and the selection tools. Please bring five of your own original, unretouched images that have caused you correction problems.
$30 each person for two hours of instruction. Limited to four people.

Photoshop: Image retouching 2 – bring your own laptop (must have Photoshop or GIMP or equivalent)
Tuesday, August 10 – 7 to 9 p.m. at Larry Whiting’s house in Grand Bend – REGISTER
A deeper exploration of problems fixed using layer masks. We will change backgrounds, eye colour, faces, (to show what can be done), and explore the image modifications you can do for difficult situations. Please bring five of your own original, unretouched images that have caused you serious correction problems.
$30 each person for two hours of instruction. Limited to four people.
